The couple’s bedroom herewas a place of intimacy and privacy which contrasted with the bedroom in the homes of the poor where it would have had to be shared with (an often highnumber of) children. As tris was one of the least used rooms in the house it was also used to carry out a few little bits of craft work such as repairing shoes or making shooting cartridges for the hunt. The elegant iron bed dates back to the end of the nineteenth century and had already substituted the rather more severelooking wooden bedsteads.
