Most of the female activity in the household took place in the kitchen amongst the pots and pans such as the grand variety that are on display here-typical of a well-off household. In the centre of the room we find the typical 'e su pane bench which was where bread was prepared. There are no other pieces of furniture apart from the su cadineri, the corner cupboard which contained the su cadinu, the classic wooden container for drinking water which was used along with the cork and wooden ladle known as the s'uppu. There is also a stone-built coal stove. The couple's bedroom here was a place of intimacy and privacy which contrasted with the bedroom in the homes of the poor where it would have had to be shared with (an often high number of) children. As this was one of the least used rooms in the house it was also used to carry out a few little bits of craft work such as repairing shoes or making shooting cartridges for the hunt. The elegant iron bed dates back to the end of the nineteenth century and had already substituted the rather more severelooking wooden bedsteads
